We’re discovering that there’s a ton of celebs that have partnered up with people from totally different backgrounds to them. Whether they have a diverse cultural or racial identity, these couples are proving that nothing can stand in the way of true love.

We think it’s high time that couples from mixed backgrounds are seen and celebrated as much as homogenous couples have been. So we’ve compiled a list of famous people you might not have realized are proudly dating outside their race and culture.
Jordan Peele and His Wife Chelsea Peretti
Jordan Peele grew in prominence for his comedy sketch show Key & Peele, which he co-created with Keegan-Michael Key. But since the success of his 2017 horror film Get Out, he’s been gaining international recognition for his directing talents. His wife is comedian and actress Chelsea Peretti, who is best known for playing Gina Linetti in the comedy show Brooklyn Nine-Nine.

Jordan is mixed race and identifies as black, with his dad being African-American and his mom being a white American. Chelsea on the other hand comes from a totally different background, but that makes no difference to either of them. Her father is of European descent, namely Italian and English, whereas her mother is Jewish of European descent.
Wanda Sykes and Her Wife Alex Niedbalski
Actress and comedian Wanda Sykes is considered by many to be one of the funniest names in Hollywood. She best-known for her TV work in Curb Your Enthusiasm and Black-ish, but has also starred in several big romantic comedies. She has been happily married to Alex Niedbalski for 11 years, eloping only a month after publicly coming out.

Wanda is in the unique situation of being able to trace back her family lineage to the only known black family rooted in freedom from the late 17th century. Her ninth great-grandmother was a white woman who had a mixed-race child. Her wife Alex, on the other hand, wasn’t even born in America; she is French and enjoys a family life with Wanda as a homemaker.
Jamie Chung and Her Husband Bryan Greenberg
Actress Jamie Chung first made it on to the showbiz scene in reality TV but transitioned into film work, for which she is now best-known. You might recognize her from Grown-Ups, The Hangover Part II, or Big Hero 6. Her husband, on the other hand, is actor Bryan Greenberg, who is most famous for starring as Ben Epstein in How to Make It in America.

Jamie is a second-generation Korean-American, who considers her upbringing to have been very traditional. Bryan, however, comes from a Jewish background of European descent from both his parents. They don’t let cultural differences come between them; for their wedding, they decided on celebrating in a non-denominational ceremony.

Talk show host and actress Kelly Ripa is a popular media personality, most recognized today for co-hosting the morning show Live! with Kelly and Ryan. She married to actor Mark Consuelos, who people know best from soap opera All My Children and teen drama Riverdale.

With more than 20 years of marriage, love conquers all differences for this showbiz couple. Both of them actually share some Italian heritage, but where Kelly also has Irish ancestry, Mark is Mexican and was born in Spain. Now, they’re three kids later and still in love.

Musician and television personality Randy Jackson is an acclaimed bassist, who has carved out a totally different career for himself as a judge on American Idol. Who could forget when actress America Ferrera starred as Betty Suarez on the ABC series Ugly Betty. Nicole was adopted by singing legend Lionel Ritchie when she was three and was friends with Nicole’s parents, so she has always known of her background. Singer-songwriter John Legend and model Chrissy Teigen are one of the most publicized Hollywood couples. Their picture-perfect marriage was only heightened when they had their first child in 2016. Fast-forward to today, and they’re a family of four with another little one on the way.

The Austrian-American chef and restaurateur Wolfgang Puck is one of the best-known names in fine dining. He has been awarded four Michelin stars and has proudly been introduced into the Culinary Hall of Fame. He is married to a fashion designer, Gelila Assefa, who specializes in making handbags.

After two unsuccessful marriages, he married his love Gelila in 2007. With their shared taste in the finer things of life, it’s easy to see why these two get along. Wolgang is Austrian through and through whereas Gelila is from Ethiopia, where she was born and educated. Now, they reside happily in Los Angeles with their two kids.

Actress and businesswoman Jessica Alba became a household name in the 2000s, after starring in several successful films such as Fantastic Four, Sin City, and Little Fockers. Her husband Cash Warren is the son of former basketball player Michael Warren, and he’s a TV producer.

Jessica’s paternal grandparents were of Mexican heritage, while her mom is of European ancestry. A DNA test revealed that she is in fact over 70% European herself much to her surprise. That being said, she identifies very strongly with her Native American side, which makes up 20% or less of her genetics. Not as much is known about Cash’s background, other than it is different to Jessica’s as his father is black and his mother is white.

Acting legend Robert De Niro has been at the top of his career for some time. He is much adored for his roles in crime films such as Goodfellas and The Godfather Part II. But he’s also loved for branching into comedy acting as he has for Meet the Parents. He was married to actress Grace Hightower for over 20 years, in which they had two kids together.

Famously, Robert is of Italian ancestry, and he identifies as Italian-American. But his mother had Dutch, German, English, and French ancestry. Grace, on the other hand, is African-American and Native-American. Since they parted ways in 2018, they have been learning how best to co-parent as exes.

Singer, rapper, and record producer Pharrell Williams is the multiple Grammy Award-winning music artist that has been active in the music scene since the 90s. He married his long-term girlfriend, model and fashion designer Helen Lasichanh, back in 2013. And they’re stronger than ever to this day.

Pharrell can trace his African-American descendants back all the way to West Africa, whereas Helena is of South-East Asian descent. It is thought that she has Laotian roots, which is today located in south China. In 2018, Pharrell revealed what their secret to a lasting relationship was: “I love her because of everything that she is, good, bad and indifferent.”
Tamera Mowry and Her husband Adam Housley
90s kids will instantly recognize actress Tamera Mowry for playing one of the twins in teen sitcom Sister, Sister. Tamera married former Fox News correspondent and journalist Adam Housley in 2011, after going out for six years.

Tamera’s father is white, and her mother comes from Afro-Bahamian ancestry. Adam is a white American and has spoken out about people who don’t support their union. “The fact that, in this day and age, we get attacked for our interracial relationship is beyond sad… it is pathetic. Yes I am white. Yes she is half black. Marrying a white man does not erase her color, and marrying a woman who is half black does not mean I am blinded.”

FKA Twigs is the English singer and songwriter with an Avante-Garde twist. She’s released two studio albums, both of which received high critical acclaim. She was in a relationship with British actor Robert Pattinson from 2014 to 2017, around the time he started focusing on independent films. But he’s most famous for playing Edward Cullen in the Twilight film saga and Cedric Diggory in Harry Potter.

These loving stars come from very different ethnic backgrounds but they both grew up in the UK. FKA Twigs Is half Jamaican with some Spanish ancestry, and Robert is completely English. Martial artist Wesley Snipes has had a long career in acting and film production. New Jack City, The Expendables 3, and the Blade film trilogy are some of the best-known films that he’s starred in. He’s been married to artist Nakyung Park since 2003, and they now have four wonderful children together.

Having been brought up in the Bronx, New York, Wesley was the son of African-American parents who worked in education and aircraft engineering. In complete contrast to himself, his wife Nakyung was born in South Korea. She likes to stay out of the limelight, only making rare appearances to come and show support for her husband. They’re obviously doing something right as they’ve been peacefully married for 17 years.

Actor Justin Chambers is most famous for his role on the medical sitcom Grey’s Anatomy as Dr. Alex Karev. He actually started out as a model for various high-end brands such as Calvin Klein, Dolce & Gabbana, and Armani. His modeling career is what introduced him to his wife, Keisha, as she was working as a booker at his modeling agency.

Justin is white with roots in England, Ireland, and Germany, while Keisha is African-American with some Hispanic and European roots. Should anyone have any doubt as to their compatibility, they are currently raising five kids together in a house with their two rescue dogs. Total couple goals.

Are superstars Channing Tatum and Zoë Kravitz the hottest couple to come out of summer 2021? Fans sure seem to think so. Lately, the pair have been caught out on the town together and people are starting to speculate that they are more than friends.

The relationship first sparked after Kravitz recruited Tatum to star in her directorial debut, Pussy Island. Since then, they were photographed spending a lot of quality time together off set.
