Let’s face it: when you’re a big shot celebrity, holding a relationship together can be tricky. With all that money and fame and with men and women throwing themselves at you left, right, and center, staying single might be the easiest choice. Exceptions to this ongoing trend however are these superstar lovebirds who have actually been together for decades.
Not only that, but they have also managed to defy the rules of aging as their years together have gone by. Maybe love is the secret to aging well? These couples certainly make it seem so. They have been together forever – through thick and thin – but their love for each other has always burned strong. And as the years went by and their connections evolved, they helped each other age perfectly.
Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson – 32 Years
Tom Hanks, the star of countless classics such as Forest Gump and Cast Away has been married to his superstar wife, Rita Wilson, for over three decades. Wow. Now that’s commitment. When the pair met on the set of Bosom Buddies in the 80s, Hanks was already married to his high-school sweetheart, Samantha Lewes. But Hanks felt “an immediate spark” when he met Wilson.
Hanks mentioned that by the time he met Wilson, his marriage was already in shambles. “I was just too young and insecure for marriage,” he said. So he and Lewes called it quits. Four years after meeting as co-stars, Hanks and Wilson got hitched. And look at them now! 32 years later and they’re still madly in love. Now in their sixties, it looks like that love might have also served as a youthful elixir.
Susan Geston and Jeff Bridges – 41 Years
Jeff Bridges, or as you may know him if you’ve seen The Big Lebowski, “the Dude,” has been married to his wife, Susan Geston (who is also a famous actor), for a whopping 41 years. That’s like half a lifetime. They met when Bridges turned up in Montana to shoot scenes for Rancho Deluxe in 1975. Geston was waiting tables at a restaurant to pay for college. Bridges recalls seeing her and thinking “I have to ask her out.”
He even told Conan ‘O Brian, “I knew I was madly in love with my wife the minute I saw her.” Susan turned him down at first but they ran into each other a few nights in a row. They were soon married. Bridges acknowledges the marriage pitfalls many celebs face – divorce and adultery – but says that for him, “My marriage just gets better and better every year.” Geston and Bridges are obviously doing something right, just look at them today!
Sting and Trudie Styler – 29 Years
Sting and Trudie Styler have been married almost 29 years after meeting each other in 1982. The legendary lead singer of The Police met his beloved when she was cast in an acting role alongside his then-wife, now ex-wife Frances Tomelty (uh-oh!).
Even after almost three decades of marriage and ten years of dating prior, Sting still cannot stop praising his wife: “Trudie is my main go-to person,” he said in an interview. Styler reciprocates the loving vibes: “I feel like we’re still on a beautiful adventure together.” Though they’re a little older than were 30 years ago, their love seems to still be in the butterfly stage.
Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick – 23 Years
Sex and the City star, Sarah Jessica Parker, and the hero of Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, Matthew Broderick are no newbies when it comes to long-lasting love life. They’ve been hitched up for 23 years, so if you need relationship advice, you could give them a call. Their love story dates back to 1991 when Broderick directed a play for a theater group founded by Parker’s brothers.
Their love story started with a note that Broderick left on a vending machine where he knew Parker would find it. The note read “Hi, it’s Matthew Broderick.” One thing led to another and then before they knew it, they were madly in love. Parker says that she and Broderick are still together after all these years because friendship and companionship come first and foremost. Apparently, it’s also the key to eternal youth.
Ron Howard and Cheryl Alley – 45 Years
If you want to know how to have a long-lasting romantic relationship, just ask Ron Howard and his wife, Cheryl (Alley) Howard. Their almost-half-a-century long connection started when Cheryl was a junior in high school. Howard said, “I met her, and there was never anybody else.”
The famous movie director says the secret to a great relationship is communication; even when there is a hard conversation to be had, communication can’t break down. We suppose that in addition to discovering how to make a relationship last, they also figured out how to preserve their youth.
Robert Downey Jr. and Susan Levin – 15 Years
It seems that Robert Downey Jr.’s relationship with Susan Levin is just as ironclad as his most notable movie character. Despite having some substance and legal problems, Downey Jr. has no problems in the serious relationship department. The bedrock of Downey Jr. and Levin’s connection is total support and devotion.
Levin, who is a very successful film producer, met Downey Jr. when he was at his lowest point, in the throes of his struggles, on the set of Ironman. At first, Levin reports, she was not that into it. But then she saw something special in him, and the electricity started to flow. Now, after 15 years of marriage and extremely graceful aging, the couple are as happy as ever.
Oprah Winfrey and Stedman Graham – 34 Years
Though Graham and Oprah never actually got married, they have been together for 34 years. In fact, in an essay Oprah addressed all sorts of questions like “Why didn’t you get married?” and “Why didn’t you have kids?” She says that she has just seen too many people afflicted by their parents not being up for the serious job of having a family. And she has never been sure she is ready for that responsibility.
Oprah and Stedman Graham met in 1986 at a charity event. She was initially captivated by how handsome he was, and then she discovered that his awesome personality matched his good looks. Graham himself is an accomplished author and businessman. Now, after 34 years of love and commitment, besides a couple of gray hairs, the superstar couple look happy together.
Ringo Starr and Barbara Bach – 35 Years
As the drummer in The Beatles, Ringo Starr is one of the biggest cross-generational rockstars to ever walk the earth. And whereas the romantic lives of many rock gods are plagued with uncertainty, Starr is a genuine relationship guy. Bach is an actress and she and Starr met on the set of Caveman in 1981.
They have aged incredibly well together. Starr, now almost 80 years old, does not look a day over 52! How does he do it? We suppose over three decades of love and rock ‘n’ roll can work wonders. Starr and Bach’s marriage came at a turbulent time: John Lennon had recently been killed, Starr’s solo career was a mess, and the film (Caveman) was a huge flop. But the couple pulled through these tough times. And today they’re flourishing.
Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip – 73 Years
The Queen of England and the Duke of Edinburgh have been hitched for almost 73 years. That’s almost three-quarters of a century! #relationshipgoals for sure. Now, Queen Elizabeth is 94 years old and Prince Philip is 96. Wow. You would think royalty and its oceans of responsibility would take a toll on you. Apparently not for these two.
They met in 1934 at the wedding of one of Philip’s cousins. Then they met again five years later. Their relationship was slow to take off – two very busy people communicating mainly by written letter. When they met for the second time, the Prince impressed Elizabeth by leaping clean over a tennis net. That and his declaration of love for her in their correspondence sealed the deal.
Michelle Pfeiffer and David Kelley – 27 Years
Award-winning actress and producer Michelle Pfeiffer met her husband David Kelley on a blind date in 1993. By the time they met, Pfeiffer was already a star. So was Kelley: he was already marching down the glamorous path of a skilled and recognized T.V. writer. Though they were both famous (and with no shortage of money), their first date wasn’t at some super expensive and fancy restaurant. They kept things simple and went bowling.
That bowling date must have struck a chord because a mere ten months later, they got married. “Life is made up of the choices and I’ve not always made good choices but I know I picked the right man. David and I work because we are really compatible,” said Pfeiffer. That compatibility has a serious halting effect on aging. It looks like Pfeiffer was photographed a couple of months apart, not a couple of decades apart.
Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne – 38 Years
During his immensely successful career, Ozzy Osbourne established himself as a foundational pillar or heavy metal and rock ‘n’ roll. But his life was turbulent and involved a more-than-safe-and-healthy amount of partying and substance consumption. So its especially surprising to hear that he and Sharon’s relationship survived this long.
Sharon and Ozzy met when they were teenagers. At the time, Sharon’s father was managing Ozzy’s first band: the legendary Black Sabbath. They got married a few years later. After 33 years of marriage, the couple announced that they were splitting up, but then a few months later stated that they were back together after a “slight snafu.” The life of a rockstar-turned-reality show star isn’t always easy, but love helps.
Ted Danson and Mary Steenburgen – 25 Years
Ted Danson, one of the stars of Cheers has been married to Mary Steenburgen for almost 25 years. You might recognize her from Step Brothers where she played the mother of Will Ferrell’s knee-slap character. Two years after meeting on the set of Pontiac in 1993, they wed.
Counter-intuitively, the couple says that one of the factors that brought them together was their experience with failed marriages. Prior to meeting, the two had sworn off love because both of them had been hurt by previous terrible relationships. But when they met each other, something clicked, and the rest of the love dominoes fell into place. Not only has their love made them happy, but it has also helped them age flawlessly.
Tina Turner and Erwin Bach – 34 Years
Internationally renowned musician Turner has been with Erwin Bach (who is over 16 years her junior) for 34 years. When Turner was getting her career fired up, and after getting out of a marriage with her previous husband, Ike Turner, she was greeted at the airport in London by Bach. He was a representative from the European record label Turner was working with at the time.
Despite the significant age difference between the two, Bach and Turner soon started dating. After years of marriage, both of them look great. Maybe the fact that Bach is younger forces Turner’s aging to slow down so he can keep up? Turner says the age gap, nationality difference (Bach is German), or cultural barriers have never negatively impacted the connection. If anything, they improved it.
Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick – 30 Years
When it comes to amazingly-aging celeb lovebirdies, no article should be taken seriously without mentioning these two. Over the course of their 30-year marriage, Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick have grown so close that they pretty much “finish each other’s sentences,” reported an interviewer.
At the time, Bacon had already played in a few big roles, including in Footloose. Sedgwick, a few years younger than Bacon, was just getting started. They married about a year after they met. They’ve been through some serious challenges together, including losing tons of money at the hands of Bernie Madoff, but nothing has affected the love and patience they have for each other.
Kevin Kline and Phoebe Cates – 30 Years
Don’t let the big beard and perfect hair fool you, Kevin Kline and Phoebe Cates have been married for over 30 years. Cates is in her fifties and Kline is in his seventies. The eternally youthful couple met in 1979. Kline already had some momentum and Cates had just gotten attention for a very risqué pool scene in Fast Times at Ridgemont High. Both of them were auditioning for parts in The Big Chill.
They met again a couple of years later. Kline reportedly hired Cates’s assistant and assigned the task of getting him a date with her boss. They started dating and got hitched eight years later. Their chemistry took a little while to coalesce – they were from very different backgrounds – but the pair found that there was a whole treasure box of love there.
Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Brad Hall – 33 Years
These two masters met at university in the early 80s. Dreyfus auditioned for a play that Hall was producing. A short time after, they crossed paths again when they were both hired by Saturday Night Live for a couple of years, and they started to form a connection during their stint on the show. A few years later, in 1987, they got married.
Dreyfus, in particular, looks like she has been drinking an anti-aging potion for the whole time we’ve known her. She’s certainly just as vivacious in Veep as she was in Seinfeld. Dreyfus and Hall have been asked what the secret to their 33-year long marriage is. But It’s a question that stumps them. The best answer Dreyfus has given us over the years is, as she told Jay Leno, “found the right guy.”
Will and Jada Pinkett Smith – 23 Years
Will’s 23-year marriage to Jada Pinkett has given them both tickets to the fountain of youth. Will is now 51 years old, but he looks like he’s in his mid-thirties. Likewise for Jada Pinkett; there’s barely any visible age difference between the two photos. For ages, however, rumors have been circulating about the precise definition of their relationship.
“Do they have an open marriage?” “Do they consider themselves married?” tabloids ask. No doubt, after meeting on the set of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, the two soon fell madly in love and had a wedding. But Jada Pinkett said, “Will and I have decided to even throw away the concept of marriage.” Despite this, they are now parents to three beautiful stars and the pair are still going strong.
Keith Richards and Patti Hansen – 37 Years
Keith Richards and Patti Hansen are one of the quintessential rockstar-and-supermodel power couples. Richards almost seems to get cooler the older he gets, and Hansen could be 200 years old and she would still look great (she’s only 64).
It takes no stretch of the imagination to visualize the level of partying going on in the heydays of The Rolling Stones. In fact, Richards says that meeting Patti saved him: “… she rescued me from, shall we say, dark periods… without going into too much detail.” They met, befittingly, at the famous night club called Studio 54, in Manhattan. They have said that their secret is “working-class roots and shared values.”
Jerry and Jessica Seinfeld – 20 Years
Jerry and Jessica Seinfeld have been married for two decades and they’re loving it. But they had an interesting start. A few months before her wedding to Eric Nederlander, Jessica and Jerry met at a sports club in 1998. When they met, she brushed Jerry off when she came up to talk to her but he came again and this time said something funny. Jessica couldn’t help but laugh.
She got married to Nederlander, and then soon after returning from her honeymoon with him, she started dating Jerry (uh oh). A year later, she and Jerry tied it up. The rest is history. When discussing the success of his marriage Jerry said, “We always have fun and we laugh and she’s got a great sense of humor.” As of now, the pair look like they haven’t aged a week; comedy and love work wonders.
Viola Davis and Julius Tennon – 17 Years
While Viola Davis was a young and struggling actress in L.A., she really wanted to meet her future husband. She envisioned a big guy, someone “who liked like a football player.” Her dream came true shortly thereafter. On the set of City of Angels, which was released in 2000, she met Julius Tennon, who played a doctor on the show and had played football in real life.
Tennon recalls feeling an instant connection. Even though he seemed to be the perfect match, Davis was still a little nervous. But her anxiety melted away when they started dating a month later and she found out he’s a total gentleman. Besides a beard and a couple of greys, these two pictures look like they were taken days apart.
Meryl Streep and Don Gummer – 40 Years
The story of Meryl Streep’s love life includes both happiness and tragedy. Her first husband, John Cazale, famous for playing in The Godfather passed away due to cancer. She was understandably devastated. And she was left with the daunting and lonely task of clearing out her apartment and moving. Don Gummer, who was a friend of Streep’s brother offered to give her a hand.
They had no clue at the time, but this was the beginning of their 40-year union. Less than a year later, they exchanged vows. Through all the hardship, Streep’s fast-paced life as a megastar, and Gummer’s busy life as a sculptor, the two have managed to seemingly not age that much at all – even though almost half a century has gone by. In her 2012 Academy Awards speech, Streep started by thanking Gummer for decades of support
Dustin Hoffman and Lisa Gottsegen – 40 Years
Dustin Hoffman and Lisa Gottsegen met way before they became romantically involved. Their first encounter was when Gottsegen was only ten years old and Dustin was a young man. It was at a barbeque of mutual family friends. Years later, at the funeral of Gottsegen’s grandfather, when Gottsegen was 22 and Hoffman was 38, they met again and soon fell in love. They married in 1980.
Even though 30 years have gone by since the day Hoffman and Gottsegen wed, time does not seem to be taking that much of a toll on them. Their love for each other must keep them youthful. When asked about their relationship success, Gottsegen said that it was important for them to have a non-Hollywood identity as well. After all, she said, she’s no star like her husband, she just happens to be married to an actor.
Rhea Durham and Mark Walhberg – 19 Years
At a media promotion event in New York, Walhberg approached Durham and asked her out on a date. The date was unconventional. Instead of the traditional movie, drinks, or restaurant, Mark proposed that they go to church the next day. Rhea agreed and their relationship came to life. Eight years into their connection, they got married. When comparing these two photos, it’s hard to notice any age difference.
But don’t be fooled by their perfect aging! These pictures are taken over 15 years apart. Walhberg and Durham attribute their long-lasting and burning love to a cute little tradition: every Thursday is date night. The famous rapper-turned actor and his supermodel wife also emphasize vacation and family time.
Ben Stiller and Christine Taylor – 18 Years
This pair has quite a unique relationship. Though their marriage did last almost two decades, they are no longer together – Stiller and Taylor split up in 2017. But things are confusing. They’re split up, not divorced, and despite this split, they are still seen together, even holding each other’s waists.
The story of their first meeting follows a classic Hollywood pattern. The two forever-young actors met on the set of Heat Vision and Jack (which never actually got released). Stiller describes it as love at first sight. A few years later, Taylor played Stiller’s love interest in Zoolander. Before they knew it, they were on their way to Hawaii to tie the knot in an ocean-side ceremony.
Adriano Celentano and Claudia Mori – 53 Years
Focusing our lens on a different part of the world, Italy, we come across these two gems. Adriano Celentano and Claudia Mori are two sweetheart Italian actors who have co-starred together throughout their careers. They have been married for 53 years! They met on the set of a movie. At first, Celentano, who had a reputation as somewhat of a “macho bully” made multiple advances on Mori, but they were snubbed.
Due to a small explosion caused by an electrical short-circuit, Celentano was lightly injured by some shards of glass. Mori rushed to help the young actor. Celentano took the opportunity to immediately ask the young singer/actress out for coffee. She agreed. Fast forward over 50 years, and the couple is happily married. Though they don’t necessarily have a fountain of youth in their front yard in the literal sense, they do have a statue of Mori there.
Michael Douglas Catherine Zeta-Jones – 20 Years
One of show biz’s classic power couples, Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones met at a film festival in 1996. At the time, Douglas was married to film producer Diandra Luker. Nothing happened then, but a few years later, their mutual friend Antonio Banderas introduced the two. By the end of the evening, the chemistry between them started bubbling.
Considering all the hardships Douglas and Zeta-Jones have been through, they’ve managed to stay remarkably young. Douglas’s son Cameron has been in multiple run-ins with the law due to substance possession, and Douglas himself has been battling cancer, to name a few challenges of theirs. But their support for each other only gets stronger and stronger.
Lisa Kudrow and Michel Stern – 30 Years
Lisa Kudrow and Michel stern married in 1995 but dated for five years prior. There’s no denying, these two are some of Hollywood’s best examples of the ‘love = youth’ equation. Kudrow, who gained international acclaim for her role as Phoebe in Friends, and Stern met while he was already dating someone. Kudrow considers herself a polite woman, so she decided that even though she was very into Stern, she wouldn’t make a move.
Six years later, Stern was no longer in a relationship, and he and Kudrow started dating. Kudrow and Stern say one of the most important things in a long relationship is independence. Kudrow says, for example, that if Stern wants to go on a golf trip, he goes.
Leslie Mann and Judd Apatow – 22 Years
How can it be that Leslie Mann almost looks younger in the right-hand photo which was taken almost 20 years after the left-hand one? Apparently her loving movie director husband keeps her young. He too has aged exceptionally well. The two met on the set of The Cable Guy in 1996. Mann disclosed, however, that at the time she had a crush on Ben Stiller, who was directing the film.
Apatow, on the other hand, was instantly stricken. He asked Mann out, and she – a little reluctantly – agreed to have dinner at his place. They ate spaghetti and went to a basketball game. Mann recounts that on their way to the game, she was stunned at how nice Apatow was.
Hugh Jackman & Deborra-Lee Furness – 24 Years
The two Australian met in their native country in 1996 on the set of a T.V. show. Jackman said that Furness was the undisputed star on set. And like everyone, he had a major crush on her. The vibes weren’t immediately reciprocated, though. But she soon realized that there was something special there. Less than a year later, the ended up married.
In the coming decades, Furness was at Jackman’s side as his career exploded and transformed him into a major A-lister. Some things, like whiskey and wine, when treated properly just get better with age. This is certainly the case for Furness and Jackman. One of their relationship secrets, as draconian as it sounds, is the implementation of strict rules, such as “no being apart for more than two weeks” or “no going to bed angry.”
Denzel and Pauletta Washington – 37 Years
As you probably have surmised by now, T.V. and movie sets seem to be the Tinder and OkCupid for celebrities and potential stars before the internet became a thing. Alas, Denzel and Pauletta Washington met in 1997 on the set of Wilma. It wasn’t long before Denzel asked her out on a date and they started regularly seeing each other.
But when it came to marriage, Pauletta turned down Denzel’s proposal twice before finally accepting. Though Denzel and Pauletta are now nearly in their seventies, they look like they could easily be in their fifties. Denzel says that there’s no real secret to having an everlasting romantic connection. The chemistry has to be there, it takes dedication of course. But couples also need to be in love with their home.
Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber – 22 Years
The love fuse was short for Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber. When they met in 1998, Crawford was married and Gerber has a girlfriend. Crawford was a rising supermodel and Gerber was a nightlife entrepreneur. They didn’t get together romantically at first, they were just buddies for a while.
And they say that is the key to their successful relationship: the fact that it’s rooted foremost in them being friends. These two pictures were taken decades apart, but it doesn’t really seem like that. Like a fine, aged cheese, these two have retained much of their youthful flare well into middle-age.
Bill Pullman Tamara Hurwitz – 40 Years
These two lovebirds knew each other for a full seven years before finally tying the know in 1987. Time has been super gentle on them and they have aged flawlessly. The only noticeable difference we see on Pullman is that his hair is a little gray. When asked about their secret to a long and healthy marriage, the star of The Sinner and his wife, Hurwitz (who is a talented dancer) had a surprising answer.
They credit the success of their union with a shared love of gardening. “I think it’s putting our hands in the dirt; it’s parallel play of digging and planting. We spend a lot of time outdoors together.” The couple has a place in L.A. but they also spend a lot of their time on a ranch in Montana, where they pursue each other and all their planting and gardening desires.
Sarah Michelle Gellar and Freddie Prinze Jr. – 23 Years
Sarah Michelle Gellar and Freddie Prinze Junior met on the set of I Know What You Did Last Summer in 1997. They hit it off with big-time sparks and five years later, they decided to get married. Gellar and Prinze Jr. have always been known for being good-looking. And, as you can, the sands of time did nothing to alter that reputation.
Interestingly, their first date was sort of by mistake. They were supposed to have dinner with a mutual friend, but she ended up canceling, so the future husband and wife went anyway. Whenever interviewers or tabloids give them the chance, the couple cannot resist gushing about one another. It’s really cute actually.
Bono and Ali Hewson – 37 Years
When looking at couples like Bono and Ali Hewson, it really does make us wonder if having a good romantic life is the secret. After all, what else is there in life besides cultivating healthy relationships and being happy? Not to mention, happiness must play a part in keeping this robust duo young.
Bono, the frontman of U2 met Hewson when both of them were just kids. They had some serious puppy love going on but they waited a couple of years until they started dating. They got married in their early twenties. The pre-high school sweethearts say that allowing each other to pursue their goals and having tons of patience are what make a lasting connection.
Lamie Lee Curtis and Christopher Guest – 36 Years
As legend has it, when she was in her twenties and quickly building show biz traction, Jamie Lee Curtis was flipping through Rolling Stone, and she spotted Guest in an article and decided right then and there that he was going to be the man she would marry. They exchanged glances during a chance encounter in a Hollywood restaurant. The next day Guest gave her a call.
Thus was born one of the longest and most-loving relationships Hollywood has ever known. Six years later, Curtis did indeed marry Rolling Stone beau. To last forever as a married couple, Curtis wrote, you have to give everything time. Meaning that if you’re having a bad week or bad day just keep going, things will get better. Embracing the gray, these two are still bombshells!
Michael Caine and Shakira Baksh – 47 Years
The love story of Michael Caine and Shakira Baksh has an interesting beginning. Caine had already been married, but his marriage fell apart because he was “too young and immature” to deal with life as a struggling and poor young actor. A couple of years later, Caine was watching T.V. when he saw a Maxwell House coffee ad featuring Baksh.
He decided that she was the most beautiful woman he had ever seen in his life and resolved to find her, wherever she was. As luck had it, she lived in London. He called her eleven times before she agreed to meet him, but from that point it didn’t take long until they were in love. Love (and the fact that Caine stopped drinking a bottle of vodka and smoking two packs of cigarettes a day) has helped them stay as fresh as any young couple.
David Bowie and Iman – 26 Years
David Bowie passed away in 2016, but he was survived by his wife, Iman, whom he had known for 26 years. In this set of photographs, Iman does not look like she aged whatsoever, and Bowie looks like he aged a few years. Nothing reflecting the truth. These pictures were taken almost 20 years apart.
Forged in tabloid heaven, the love story between this rockstar-supermodel couple starts in 1990. When Bowie mustered up the courage to ask her out, he couldn’t find the words, so he just said, “tea?” He doesn’t even ever drink tea, Iman explained. As we all know, David Bowie had (and still has) a massive rockstar persona. But Iman stressed that she didn’t fall in love with the persona, she fell in love with the real human.
Faith Hill and Tim McGraw – 21 Years
Befittingly, Faith Hill and Tim McGraw met at the annual Country Radio Seminar in Nashville, in 1994. Hill had just gone through a divorce and McGraw was dating someone else at the time. When they met, the two country superstars say that the vibes were nothing but friendly. Fast forward a little, and Hill was McGraw’s opening act on tour. McGraw had just broken off his engagement and Hill was engaged to a producer.
But by this time, since they were interacting every day, they had major chemistry. After a short period of dating, McGraw popped the question in a dressing trailer while on tour. She said yes (and maybe “yeehaw”). We suppose country music, burning love, and being on the road can do magic for the human body because McGraw and Hill barely look like they’ve aged a day.
Elton John and David Furnish – 27 Years
Elton John and David Furnish credit the success of their nearly three-decade-long marriage to communication. John is British, Furnish is Canadian. John is a musician, Furnish is in the film industry. Furnish is 15 years John’s junior. The bottom line, they had many differences, but just being open with each other was crucial.
The loving connection that would keep these two young throughout the decades started in 1993. John wasn’t used to people liking him just for him. That is, he had had lots of experience with people “being into him” because of his status. Furnish was different. John recalled, “He was independent.” At an uptight dinner, John and Furnish started to vibe. The next evening, though, at a more chill dinner (Chinese take-out), they really hit it off.
David and Victoria Beckham – 21 Years
The two timeless British sweethearts, pop-star turned fashion model Victoria Beckham and her hunk soccer player husband, David Beckham, met a charity soccer event in 1997. They already knew of each other; whenever he saw Spice Girls music videos, he would tell his friends how attracted he was to Posh Spice (Victoria). And seeing as David was already a soccer hero, Victoria was well aware of who he was.
The clicked like the button of a pen, started dating, and then two years later they walked down the aisle. No doubt, these two are master practitioners at the art of being good looking, but their youthfulness they flaunt after long and fast-paced careers is stunning. The 20 or so years that separate these photos are barely detectable.
Colin Firth and Livia Giuggioli – 22 Years
After 22 years of marriage, Colin Firth and Livia Giuggioli decided to call it quits. Firth, who we all remember from The King’s Speech, Mamma Mia! and more, and Giuggioli broke things off due to her (now confirmed) infidelity. Because of the irreconcilable differences caused by the situation, the couple just couldn’t survive.
When Firth and Giuggioli met on the set of a show in 1997, he was already pretty famous but she had no clue who he was. He was well-known in Britain, but in Giuggioli’s native Italy, he was anonymous. The two have both said that they fell in love the moment they met. Even after years of films and shows, travels, scandals, and divorce, the two show-biz big-shots look relatively young and single and ready to mingle.
Michael J. Fox and Tracy Pollan – 32 Years
Michael J. Fox, the star of Back to the Future, and his actress wife Tracy Pollan have sometimes been called “the least scandalous couple in Hollywood.” When they met on the set of Family Ties in the 80s, Pollan was dating Kevin Bacon. She thought Fox was charming but a little cocky. A couple of years down the road, they met again on the set of Bright Lights Big City.
When Fox inquired about Pollan’s boyfriend, he was delighted when she informed him that she and Bacon were no longer together. After going on a lunch date, they fell for each other and then ended up married a year later. Their marriage is rock solid. Fox was diagnosed with Parkinson’s but Pollan has been his supportive column through everything.
Pam Dawber and Mark Harmon – 33 Years
Pam Dawber and Mark Harmon are experts at keeping the press’s nose out of their love life. Dawber said that it’s not that they necessarily want to be secretive, but it’s that tabloids tend to exploit and distort. Still, what we do know is that the famous actor duo is still deeply in love.
They met in the 80s through a good old fashioned set-up arranged by a mutual friend. But at the time of the suggestion, Dawber was dating someone else. Three months down the line, though, she and the NCIS superstar finally met. Their chemistry blossomed into one of the longest-lasting and youth-preserving relationships in Hollywood.
Courtney B. Vance and Angela Bassett – 22 Years
In the world of long-lasting and great romantic bonds, it’s the little and often-overlooked things that count, says Courtney B. Vance, the talented actor who got famous for his role in The Hunt for Red October in the 90s. Helping and hearing each other out is the bedrock to any healthy connection. He and his wife of over 20 years (who recently got tons of recognition for her role in Black Panther) attended drama school together.
Vance had a girlfriend, so he and Bassett did not become involved. But they crossed paths multiple years later in L.A. This time, both of them were single. Their first date, the couple recalls, was not anything special. But soon the magic started to happen, and they never looked back. They’ve clearly figured out how to stay in love, and as you can see by the pictures, they’ve also figured out how to stay pretty young and good looking!
Mark Hamill and Marilou York – 42 Years
Mark Hamil, whom we all know primarily as Luke Skywalker, met his wife, Marilou York, a dental hygienist, at her work in the 70s. It was a different time then; Hamill asked York how she could be at work dressed so provocatively. Even though she was laughing inside, York put on a facade of sternness and said, “Yeah, next.”
York accepted Hamill’s offer to go on a date and they went to see Annie Hall, the hit 70s comedy-romance. During the movie, Mark Hamill got a nice glimpse of York’s sense of humor and he fell in love. The energy was reciprocated. After knowing each other for less than a year, they took their vows. Now, 40 loving and youthful years later, the couple says they’re just as in love as ever.
Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi – 15 Years
Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi knew each other for several years before getting together. Even in show business, which is often heralded as a liberal and progressive environment, same-sex couples were, sadly, a little taboo. So after having first met and vibed at a party in 2000, they kept things pretty quiet, especially seeing as same-sex marriage wasn’t even legal back then (that changed in 2008).
DeGeneres, the talk show goddess, and de Portia, world-class model and star in Arrested Development, have aged beautifully. It seems that what we call ‘the fountain of youth’ is in reality ‘the fountain of love.’ Pretty much the day Californian legislation changed for the better, the two lovebirds decided to tie the knot. When asked about their secret, they simply stated that aspiring long-termers need to just admit that relationships take work.
Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos – 24 Years
Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos are an adorable, talented, classic celebrity forever-couple. Ripa was already a respected and accomplished cast member of All My Children when she met Consuelos on set. He was auditioning and Ripa was his screen test partner. He didn’t just get the part on the show, but he also got the part in Ripa’s life as her future husband.
If you’ve seen the show, you’ll know that Consuelos’s character (Mateo) was Ripa’s character’s (Hayley) love interest. A month later, Consuelos proposed. “I am serious. Let’s go to Vegas tomorrow and get married,” Consuelos said after they went for a pizza date. Now, twenty five years and three children later, the couple is enjoying the good life, and apparently drinking love cocktails spiked with water from the fountain of youth.
Felicity Huffman and William H. Macy – 25 Years
William H. Macy has played in a few really good roles, but he’s probably foremost recognized for his character in Fargo, the original movie from 1996. But the relationship with his character’s wife in the movie is far from real life. In his scheme, he hires thugs to kidnap her in hopes that he’ll get a cut of the ransom paid by her father, but things go terribly wrong. In real life, however, he’s all love and commitment.
The lucky lady, a megastar of her own, is Felicity Huffman. She gained prominence for her role as Lynette on Desperate Housewives, which made her tremendously famous. The pair met in the 80s at New York City’s Atlantic Theater Company. Whereas some other couples get hitched after a couple of months, Macy and Huffman dated for over a decade before marrying. Maybe waiting so long also curbed the effects of aging?
RuPaul and Georges LeBar – 26 Years
America’s (and probably the world’s) favorite drag queen, RuPaul, and his beau, Georges LeBar, have been together for a long long time. They met back in 1994 at a dance club in NYC. RuPaul is legendary for having a huge presence on the show-biz scene, of course. But when it comes to his private life, he and his long time partner like to keep things more private.
Though they were together years prior, they only tied the knot in 2017. We found this out only last year, when RuPaul, opened up about him and LeBar. LeBar is a ranger from Wyoming, and in fact, RuPaul says besides being into him, LeBar doesn’t care about show biz. So diversity is the key to both love and youth because, after all these years, these two are more in love than ever before, and barely look like they’ve aged.
Samuel L. Jackson and LaTanya Richardson – 40 Years
Samuel L. Jackson is a first-class movie hero. Pulp Fiction, Unbreakable, The Hateful Eight, Jurassic Park – the list of amazing movies he’s in go on and on and on. He’s a bottomless well of talent. But apparently, he’s also an undepletable source of love because he’s been married to his wife for 40 years!
Also very talented and movie savvy, LaTanya has played in dozens (maybe hundreds?) of supporting roles of the years and has also done some work on the production side. Jackson credits his wife with saving him from a life of trouble. “I’ve always had my wife LaTanya, who’s my harshest critic.” Looking at pictures of the two today, you would think they have lived their life in a spa, they always look fresh.
Christopher and Georgianne Walken – 51 Years
Christopher Walken makes a “good” bad guy. Something about his eyes and voice maybe. But as his record shows, he’s perfectly comfy playing good guys too. Some of his most memorable works include roles in The Deer Hunter, Catch Me If You Can, and Hairspray. His long-time wife, Georgianne Walken, is also in the show business, she works as a casting director.
But before they became an actor and casting director and husband and wife, they were both dancers. They met on a tour of West Side Story back in the 70s. The secret to everlasting love and youth for her and Christopher, Georgianne says, is how interesting their lives are. When they met, Christopher wasn’t famous yet, but Georgianne was stunned by his talent and the potential she saw in him as an actor and husband.
Rachel Zoe and Rodger Berman – 24 Years
Rachel Zoe, American fashion designer and star of The Rachel Zoe Project, has been a power-player in the fashion industry for over two decades. But she actually studied psychology and sociology at college when she met her husband-to-be Rodger Berman. That was all the way back in 1991.
“Seven years later, we were standing at the altar,” Rodger Berman recalled in 2011. They’ve had 24 long years together, where investment banker Roger admits having to act as Rachel’s valet, personal assistant, amateur photographer, and publicist. But he admits to loving it. And they look every inch as wonderful together as they did in their younger years.
Annette Bening and Warren Beatty – 29 Years
Hollywood heavyweights Warren Beatty and Annette Bening are coming up to their milestone pearl wedding anniversary. Actor and producer Warren has had over 53 Academy Award nominations for eight of his movie productions alone, and Annette has earned a film star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
After almost 30 years together, they’re obviously doing something right. They claim not to have any particular secret to making their marriage last. But former ladies man Warren knew when he met the woman taking to the aisle: “I always felt I wasn’t trying to avoid marriage, I was trying to avoid divorce. I had no doubt when I met Annette that it was time to get married.”
Anna Kournikova and Enrique Iglesias – 19 Years
Tennis superstar and model Anna Kournikova started dating Spanish pop star Enrique Iglesias in late 2001 after she made an appearance in his music video, “Escape.” With her status as a sports celebrity and his public image as the King of Latin Pop, they were one of the most glamorous couples of the decade.
They briefly separated in 2008, where Enrique admitted that Anna told him “that’s enough, I’m done.” It provided inspiration for new music, but ultimately he won her back in the end. He acknowledges that “we’ve had good times and bad times.” They never married officially, but with their three children, they’re as much of a family as anyone. And they’re still as glamorous as ever.
Steve Carell and Nancy Walls – 25 Years
Actor and comedian Steve Carrell has been with actress Nancy Walls for almost 25 years. Best known for portraying desperate office manager Michael Scott on NBC’s The Office. Nancy also appeared as Carol Stills in The Office for seven episodes, but that’s not where they met. Way back in the 90s, Steve was an improv teacher, and Nancy was one of his students.
It was a funny start for them, as Steve explained about their first meeting: “I thought she hated me because she was very quiet around me. I thought she for sure knew that I was full of it, and I later found out that she was just as nervous as I was and trying to act cool.” Something that’s integral to their relationship is their shared sense of humor, according to Steve. We can’t help but think they both lucked out with each other.
Bryan Cranston and Robin Dearden – 31 Years
Bryan Cranston has been around for a while. Maybe you knew him from Malcolm in the Middle. If not from there, then we’re willing to bet money you know him from his epic role as Walter White on Breaking Bad. He was always good, but the AMC hit (which might just be the best show ever made) brought him to a whole new level.
Cranston met his wife, Robin Dearden, while holding her at gunpoint. Chill, it was in a series called Airwolf. They both had partners at the time, but (obviously) something clicked. And despite the hostage situation, a year later, they met again, and this time fell in love. Cranston even attributes part of their loving and youth connection to the very fact that they were not available when they first met!
John Travolta and Kelly Preston – 29 Years
Maybe it’s the fortune (affording vacation, healthy food and a good gym), maybe it’s the Scientology (no, probably not), it could be genetics, and it’s definitely love. After 29 years of marriage, John Travolta and Kelly Preston look amazing. Preston was married to her now-ex-husband in 1989 when she and Travolta met at a screen test for The Experts. A couple of years later, they got married.
People once described their first encounter as a lopsided “love at first sight” moment. Travolta says he fell for Preston the second he laid eyes on her. Preston said that she felt a connection, but that she was preoccupied with her increasingly unhappy marriage. Sadly 2009, Travolta and Preston lost their son. And just this week, Preston lost her battle with cancer. Our hearts go out to Travolta and the rest of his family as they mourn the fresh loss of a loving mother and wife.
Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell – 37 Years
Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell’s relationship started on Valentine’s Day in 1983. They met during a filming session of The One and Only, Genuine, Original Family Band but they didn’t instantly click. It took their chemistry a little bit to warm up and make way for the love to start flowing. But when it rains, it pours. Over the decades, the couple has become an icon of against-the-grain Hollywood love.
Hawn was in her early twenties but Russell was only sixteen – so she thought he was too young, just a kid. When they met years later, as Russell was nursing a serious hangover, the pair fell for each other. Sure, Russell is not a teenager anymore, and Hawn isn’t in her twenties, but they look amazing! Interestingly, the couple has never married, they like their marital status just as is.
Isla Fisher and Sacha Baron Cohen – 10 Years
The prince of comedy Sacha Baron Cohen met Australian comedy princess Isla Fisher in 2002 and they tied the knot in 2010. They met at a party in Sydney. They hit it off and have been head over heels in love ever since. Fisher even converted to Judaism for Cohen (he’s Jewish), which is quite the complex process.
When asked about the secret to their rock-solid relationship, Fisher said it’s all about the “synchronized snacking,” meaning having snacks together at the same time. And good thing Isla has a good sense of humor: when Cohen gets into character he stays in character until the end of the project. Use your imagination: he’s was always in character, even at night.
