Each year, the United Nations congregate in New York, to generate new ideas on how to resolve any threats countries are currently facing. In other words, world leadership teamwork makes the dream work! The latest issue up for debate at the annual conference regarded, you guessed it, climate change.</p>

<p>Current US President Donald Trump failed to make an appearance at the conference, but the show must go on! Keen to take center stage and step in for the President&#8217;s absence was Miss. Thunberg. For most 16-year-olds, stepping on stage in front of a bunch of world leaders would be considered a pretty daunting task, but Greta meant business.</p><p>Greta made her points loud and clear to the leaders, with more passion and force than no one could&#8217;ve anticipated! In her speech, Thunberg highlighted the detrimental effects of taking a back seat with climate change, and how these people are taking away the future of today&#8217;s youth.</p><h3>Putting the Leaders in Their Place</h3><p>It&#8217;s safe to say, Greta left these leaders feeling a little guilty for their lack of compassion with regard to the environment. As her lecture came to a close, audiences were left with one sudden realization. If they didn&#8217;t make some quick changes to improve our planet, school strikes and marches won&#8217;t make a patch on the downward spiral the world could enter.</p>

The teen warned the world leaders that &#8220;change is coming.&#8221; Indeed, businesses and local governments across the globe are working tirelessly to combat climate change, while the younger generations are beginning to raise awareness through protests, walkouts, or written letters to officials. This may sound positive, but time is running out.</p><p>We don&#8217;t exactly have a ton of time to make a difference to our planet. Believe it or not, the issue of climate change has existed for years, but it&#8217;s only now that political leaders are being urged to recognize what&#8217;s going on. All we can do at this point is hope some big changes happen, and pronto!</p>
