Friends is a timeless TV sitcom that never seems to go out of style. And Jennifer Anniston’s alter ego, Rachel Green will forever be remembered as the timeless style icon of the show. Through every series, we all followed her hairdos and fashion choices religiously; almost as much as her notorious on-off relationship with Ross. So we couldn’t think of a better way to honor the 25th year anniversary of the show’s pilot episode, than with a Rachel Green inspired fashion collection.
Luckily, Ralph Lauren himself beat us to the punch! The signature collection is even more poignant and crowd-pleasing because in the show Rachel Green worked for the high-end fashion house Ralph Lauren. So we’ve brushed up on our research and found out everything you need to know.
Rachel’s Evolving Style
From the moment Rachel stormed onto our screens in a wedding dress, we all watched her gradually evolve her style. She matured from a “daddy’s princess” with no ambition, into an independent career-driven fashionista. From her first real job as a waitress in the coffee house to a fashion buyer for Ralph Lauren, she won us all over with her ever-changing fashion choices.
Through the years, Rachel became an inspiration to a generation of fans. She even had a viral hairdo named after her. And when Rachel landed her dream job at Ralph Lauren, she continued to wow us with her showstopping work wardrobe. Her signature preppy style featured pleated skirts, structured shirts, leather blazers, and cashmere turtlenecks.
The One Where They Wear Ralph Lauren
While Rachel was working at the fashion house in Friends, they famously paid homage to Ralph Lauren by featuring him in the show. So, since Rachel and Ralph seem to have a tight history, we’re happy to see that their relationship is now coming full circle. To celebrate the 25th anniversary of Friends, Ralph Lauren is paying tribute to Rachel by launching a brand new Rachel-inspired workwear collection.
Ralph explained that “The collection is a celebration of the brand’s role in the series.” The new collection is designed to reflect Ralph’s timeless style, with a “modern working woman” twist. So the high-end workwear line is filled with preppy signature pieces.
As you might have guessed, the collection is “so” Rachel and includes cashmere sweaters, structured shirts, leather pants, turtlenecks and checked patterned ensembles. Now finally we can all channel our inner 90s selves. Thanks to Ralph Lauren, we can all wear Rachel. And for that, we salute him!
