Remember all those 2016 moments when American’s asked themselves; is Donald Trump trying to lose? The answer was YES! Michael Wolff just released a book detailing all the juicy bits of President Trump’s first year in office. According to Wolff, Trump hinted to the fact that he wasn’t interested in actually winning American votes at all. A week before the elections, Trump tells the former head of Fox News; I don’t think about losing, because it isn’t losing, we’ve totally won.” Boy, was he in for a surprise!
A good businessman knows any publicity is good publicity. President Trump never thought he would win the presidential elections. In fact, he really did not want to. Trump intended to open up business opportunities by gaining attention, both good and bad -as if he didn’t have enough already!
Wolff describes the current president’s reaction upon winning, and it was similar to the response Hillary fans had. Wolf reported in “Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House” that Donald Trump was “horrified” when he saw election polls spiking in his favor. Apparently, Trump’s real plan was to lose and start his own television network.“It was a great future. He would come out of this campaign, Trump assured Ailes, with a far more powerful brand and untold opportunities,” Wolff writes.
Michael Wolff describes the alternate universe where Trump lost the elections. Not only does it sound great for Americans, but it looks like a swell life for the president as well. “Once he lost, Trump would be both insanely famous and a martyr to Crooked Hillary. His daughter Ivanka and son-in-law Jared would be international celebrities. Steve Bannon would become the de facto head of the tea-party movement. Kellyanne Conway would be a cable-news star. Melania Trump, who had been assured by her husband that he wouldn’t become president, could return to inconspicuously lunching. Losing would work out for everybody. Losing was winning,” Wolff wrote.
The book also reveals how much Trump’s campaign staff was praying for a loss. In retrospect, with all the offensive statements the president made, it was pretty clear he wanted to lose all along! The series of events resemble a classic children’s movie storyline. A child wishes to be the luckiest man alive, and it all backfires! Careful what you wish for Trump.
