<p>Out in the westernmost corner of the famous Orange County is a special place called Seal Beach. This beach is a place covered in all sorts of magic. Like most places in California, Seal Beach has its share of donut shops. The donuts are an awesome characteristic, but it’s the people who live in the area that make it so special.</p><h3>The Donut Community</h3><p>From the moment members of this community discovered that the owner of their favorite donut shop’s wife was suffering from cancer, they’re buying behavior changed drastically.</p><p><img loading="lazy" class="alignnone wp-image-9189 size-full" src="https://s27748.pcdn.co/wp-content/uploads/2018/11/hkjj.jpg" alt="" width="1000" height="667" / width="1000" height="667"></p><p>John and Stella Chhan make their living running a donut shop called City Donut. Locals love the place so much that they fit a visit to Donut City in their daily routines. Over time, John and Stella got close to their customers. After all, they see them every day.</p><h3>The Bad News</h3><p>The locals proved their friendship and loyalty to the Chhan&#8217;s when they discovered that Stella was ill. John Chhan is a proud owner of his shop. He runs donut city to provide for him and his family. He needs the business now more than ever, but at the same time, it would be ideal if he could take off from work and spend more time with his wife, Stella.</p><h3>A Donut Pact</h3><p>Donut City’s loyal customers spread the word about the unfortunate situation. They know Chhan won’t take off from work unless he’s sold all his donuts for the day. The community knew exactly what they had to do.</p><p><img loading="lazy" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-8083" src="https://s27748.pcdn.co/wp-content/uploads/2018/11/2-12.jpg" alt="" width="1000" height="667" / width="1000" height="667"></p><p>Every morning customers show up bright and early and buy donuts by the dozens. Their goal is to help Chhan sell out all his tasty desserts so that he could close up shop early and take care of Stella.</p><h3>Social Media Saved the Day</h3><p>Dawn Caviola is a 58-year-old regular at City Donut for the past 13 years. She and her daughter make a visit to the donut joint twice a month. Dawn was devastated when she heard John was managing the shop on his own because Stella is in a rehabilitation center after suffering an aneurysm. That night she wrote a blog post on the community’s network.</p><p>In the post, she explained that if John sold his daily inventory early on in the day, he could go home and spend time with Stella. The post went viral and social media and was all over Facebook.</p><h3>Everything Sold Out</h3><p>The next thing the Chhan&#8217;s knew was that business continued to boom and it did so early on in the day. The shop opens as early as 4:30 AM every day. The Saturday morning after the post went viral, Chhan closed up shop at 8:00 AM!</p><p><img loading="lazy" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-8084" src="https://s27748.pcdn.co/wp-content/uploads/2018/11/3-9.jpg" alt="" width="1000" height="667" / width="1000" height="667"></p><p>He sold every last donut. &#8220;People can just do a simple thing for their neighbors,&#8221; she said. &#8220;There are people who don&#8217;t even eat sugar who are buying doughnuts from Mr. Chhan and giving them out to strangers,&#8221; Caviola told NBC News.</p><p>John told NBC news that he is incredibly thankful for everyone’s help and support. He updated everyone on Stella’s health saying that she’s already started to speak and is learning how to eat.		</p>
